Face your fears

Excerpts from speeches delivered by Siddha Yogi Shri Siva Shankar Baba

In some situations, you have to be firm. If someone is hurting you, put it across politely but emphatically that he or she is doing wrong by hurting you. There is no use in pretending that you are not hurt, just because you are worried about hurting them! But there is a method: state your feelings in a diplomatic way to avoid confrontation.

If you are chased by a dog, no use in running away. Turn around and face it and you will be amused to see it beating a hasty retreat. Similarly, if there is a situation when a girl is being repeatedly tracked by a boy, there is no use in feeling scared and hiding herself. She must face him boldly and explain to him politely and firmly that she is not interested in any such silly romantic notions. That is bound to put some sense into his head.

You can and must be frank in such situations. The more you try to avoid such issues, the tougher the problem becomes.

If someone does something that you do not like, but it has not come to your direct notice, just ignore it.
