True Love

Excerpts from speeches delivered by Siddha Yogi Shri Siva Shankar Baba

In a worldly sense, you may want to express your genuine love for a boy, assuming that he is a decent friend. But in the present day society, very few youths intend to marry; most boys have not yet started recognizing girls as individuals; they treat them as commodities to be used for passing time. This is primarily because of the male-female barrier that has been ingrained in Indian minds since childhood. Most such "love" cases are a result of infatuation; they do not even know the real meaning of the term 'love'. And the escape route is more open to men than to women. Despite viewing many movies and hearing of incidents where girls have been left in the lurch, girls have not yet learnt to keep themselves at a safe distance from boys. They do not maintain restraint even in their written communication and this leads to various problems later on.

Why aren't girls cautious? If boys are not prepared to maintain a decent physical distance, should not that ring a warning bell in you? If a so-called friend pounces on a girl like a tiger on a deer, should that not reveal to her his lusty nature? Regardless of whether you are good-looking or not, whether you are fair or dark, or rich or poor, or employed or unemployed, that person must accept you. That is what true love is.
